LANSING — The Michigan House of Representatives voted today to pass Senate Bills 242-244, legislation that provides incentives to companies that create a certain number of new jobs. In response, House Democratic Leader Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) issued the following statement:
“I was proud to support the Good Jobs legislation in its final form. The Democratic amendments shaped the Good Jobs package into responsible, effective legislation that caps the amount of money in the program, provides for local control and limits the length of time the program is in effect. It gives us yet another tool to attract high-tech companies to invest in our state and bring good-paying jobs to Michigan, which will keep our state competitive with surrounding states and other nations. We need more good jobs in Michigan to help our state recover and give our young people a reason to stay in Michigan and raise their families here, and this legislation will move us toward that goal."
