LANSING — This week, Republican legislators are considering efforts to strip away critically important benefits for retired police and firefighters, such as health care. In response, state Rep. Tim Sneller (D-Burton) issued the following statement:
“Our first responders and police officers go to work every day ready to face dangers and protect our communities. To say that they have earned their health care and retirement benefits is an understatement, and to consider robbing them of those protections is not only disrespectful, it is downright wrong. This is not how we should show our thanks to those who keep us safe, and I will do everything I can to protect their hard-earned benefits.”
