LANSING — State Rep. Patrick Green (D-Warren) celebrated the announcement from Fiat Chrysler to invest over $1 billion in the Warren Truck Plant and bring production of the Ram truck from Mexico to Michigan, citing the significant impact the changes will have on the local economy.
“We are excited about what Fiat Chrysler’s announcement means for Warren’s manufacturing industry. Things are happening here- Warren is the place to do business,” said Green. “A $1 billion dollar investment will ensure our plant is modern and our city remains competitive. It means we can look forward to a robust industry and good jobs for the residents of Warren and Center Line for years to come.”
In addition to bringing the Ram truck production to Macomb County, Chrysler also plans to build the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in Warren. The company says their plans for the plants and vehicles to be built there should be complete in 2020.
“These changes translate into at least 2,500 new jobs, the kind of good jobs allowing our kids to stay here in Michigan to live comfortably and raise a family,” said Green. “Michigan is still the auto capitol of the world, and our auto workers are second to none. Today is a great day for Michigan auto workers and all the related small businesses sure to benefit from Fiat Chrysler’s investment.”
