LANSING — State Rep. Terry J. Sabo (D-Muskegon) hosted the Muskegon High School Big Reds state champion football team at the state Capitol this week. Under the leadership of Coach Shane Fairfield and his coaching staff, the Big Reds went 14-0 to win the Division III state championship at Ford Field.
“I was very happy to host these great young men and their coaching staff and honor them for their athletic achievement,” said Sabo. “They had a dominating season on the field and presented themselves as great citizens off the field. I was also pleased that they were able to take a tour of their state Capitol and to watch House session and see their elected officials in action.”
Sabo and state Sen. Geoff Hansen (R-Hart) presented the team with a tribute during House session and also hosted a lunch for the team.
“Muskegon students don’t often get a chance to come to Lansing, so that made today’s visit special for them and for me,” said Sabo. “I wish these young men the best and look forward to hearing about the great things they do in the classroom, on the football field and in the future.”
