LANSING — Yesterday, state Rep. Yousef Rabhi (D-Ann Arbor) voted against the Michigan House of Representatives’ omnibus budget for fiscal year 2018-19 and the House School omnibus budget for fiscal year 2018-19. In response, Rep. Rabhi issued the following statement on his no vote on both bills:

“The budgets we voted on yesterday were not nearly as terrible as they could be, but that doesn’t mean we should lower our standards simply because we’re grateful to have bad budgets instead of awful ones. Both budgets voted on yesterday failed to provide relief and aid to the people of Flint, refused to use additional funds available to fix our pothole-riddled roads, and neglected to protect our state’s most precious natural resource form corporate greed. The majority party may have low standards, but I do not, nor do the people of Michigan. I voted against these budgets yesterday and I would again, because Michigan deserves better than what these budgets have to offer.”
