“Detroiters came out in historic numbers to exercise their right to vote and make their voices heard. This year’s election proves the importance of every vote. For our democracy to work, we must have a free and impartial election process, know that it works, and fair. Playing partisan politics does not serve our democracy. It only attempts to demoralize and discourage voters and hardworking election volunteers. I am glad that the Wayne County Board of Canvassers eventually delivered a unanimous vote to certify the election. Detroiters vote. It’s our voice and we have spoken. Now the nation will hear us clearly.”
