DETROIT — It was announced today that the historic and vacant Michigan Central Station in Detroit has been sold to Ford Motor Co. Details on how the building will be used are set to be announced next week. In response, state Rep. Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:
“The Corktown and Southwest Detroit community and surrounding neighborhood residents have long wished to see the train station redeveloped into something productive and welcoming. I am excited about this announcement that will bring an end to many decades of blight. My neighborhood service center is within blocks of the train station, and I look forward to watching the transformation take place under Ford Motor Co.’s ownership. As with any re-development project that impacts a neighborhood in my district, I will be eager to hear the details of the plans and assist residents in working to build a beneficial partnership with our new neighbors at Ford.”
