LANSING — Today, the House of Representatives approved the state budget for fiscal year 2018-19. State Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Township) voted in favor of both budgets, and issued the following statement:
“During this budget process, I fought to secure more funding for the things we care about — especially for our schools and roads. It’s clear that this year’s budget was not perfect. In fact, there are several things I disagree with, especially since the administration didn’t address our request for train crossing funding. However, I was sent to Lansing to get the best deal for Downriver residents and to make sure our government is funded and working. That’s why I voted for the highest increase in per pupil spending in over fifteen years and an additional $300 million in road funding to fix our crumbling infrastructure. We know that this is still short of the funding we need to provide long-term, lasting improvements to Michigan's schools and roads, but I was proud to support a step toward that goal and will continue to fight for the priorities of working families.”
