Statement from state Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-Kalamazoo) on the Michigan Supreme Court decision to send the Voters Not Politicians redistricting question to the ballot:

LANSING — Today, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the Voters Not Politician ballot initiative will be on the ballot in November. In response state Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-Kalamazoo) issued the following statement:

 “Our government is supposed to be by, for and of the people. This ballot proposal is the purest example of citizens taking action to make government work for them. Redistricting should be a process that lets Michiganders choose their elected officials and not the other way around. Now they will have a chance to make their voices heard on this critical issue at the ballot box.
