LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives held their annual 911 Recognition ceremony commemorated those Michigan first responders lost in the line of duty during the past year, those lost in the 2001 attacks and recognized first responders serving in Michigan communities today. State Rep. John Chirkun (D-Roseville), who served as executive sergeant in the Wayne County Sheriff’s Dept., hosted Deputy Chief Ryan Monroe of the Roseville Police Dept., at the ceremony and released the following statement:
“As a former Wayne County Deputy Sheriff, I understand what our first responders deal with every day on the job. As an elected official, I also know that they and local officials can’t do the job without our full support. Today I honor my guest, Deputy Chief Ryan Monroe of the Roseville Police Depts., and all first responders by reassuring them that my colleagues and I will always work to protect their livelihoods and support their communities. That is the best way we can say thank you to those who protect and serve, those who have given their lives in the line of duty, and the first responders and civilians who lost their lives on Sept. 11.”
