LANSING — House Republicans approved Senate Bill 1176 today which will exempt nonprofit entities capable of making political contributions from having to publicly disclose the personal information of their donors. All Democrats voted against the dark money proposal. In response to its passage, state Rep. Bill Sowerby (D-Clinton Township) issued the following statement:
“Voters deserve to know exactly who is influencing their legislators and elections. This bill mocks the future integrity of our electoral process and further muddies the waters of campaign finance for our state.”
