LANSING — House Republicans approved Senate Bill 1176 today which will exempt nonprofit entities capable of making political contributions from having to publicly disclose the personal information of their donors. All Democrats voted against the dark money proposal. In response to its passage, state Rep. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) issued the following statement:
“As elected officials, we are entrusted with representing the values and needs of our constituents, not special interests. Michiganders have made their opinion clear. They want increased transparency and accountability— the last people who should be standing in their way are their duly elected representatives.”
