LANSING — Yesterday, the Senate passed state Rep. Patrick Green’s (D-Warren) House Bill 6147, which would honor Det. Sgt. Christopher Wouters of the Warren Police Department by designating a portion of M-53 as the “Det. Sergeant Wouters Memorial Highway”. Det. Sgt. Wouters was tragically killed in the line of duty on Oct. 11, 2000. The bill now moves to Gov. Snyder for his signature. In response, Rep. Green issued the following statement:
“Det. Sgt. Wouters devoted his life to public service and protecting his community. He was lost far too soon, but I believe that by dedicating this highway in his name, we can ensure that his heroism is never forgotten. I would like to thank my colleagues for partnering with me to make this happen, and I hope that Gov. Snyder quickly enshrines in law this act of remembrance.”
