LANSING — Today, House Democratic Caucus Chair Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) announced the appointment of state Rep. Angela Witwer (D-Delta Township) to serve with her as assistant caucus chair for the 2019-2020 legislative session.
“As an accomplished health care professional and business owner, Rep. Witwer will bring practical and diverse perspectives to the table,” Anthony said. “One of my main goals is to ensure that everyone has a voice within our caucus. Rep. Witwer will be a great partner to help me achieve the environment we need to accomplish real change for working families.”
Rep. Witwer is serving her first term representing the 71st House District, which includes most of Eaton County. Witwer began her professional career in clinical health care, working first in Sparrow Hospital’s burn unit and later as the manager of pediatric rehabilitation. After 22 years working in health care, Witwer left Sparrow in 2007 when she co-founded Edge Partnerships—a marketing, public relations and advocacy business. Witwer volunteers her time on boards and committees in the Greater Lansing area advocating for healthcare, quality education and community engagement.
“Access to affordable health care, a quality education and safe roads should be basic guarantees for Michigan families,” Witwer said. “These are big issues that will require multiple perspectives and ideas to help solve, and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work with my colleagues to serve Michigan families.”
