LANSING — State Rep. Mari Manoogian (D-Birmingham) was sworn in officially today as representative for the 40th House District for the 2019-2020 legislative session. The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 100th Legislature. In response, Rep. Manoogian issued the following statement:
“I am incredibly honored to have been chosen to represent the people of my community. The people of Michigan are tired of business-as-usual politics, and I am eager to bring a new voice and perspective to the House at a time when we need to work together to ensure the wellbeing of all Michiganders. Whether it is addressing the high cost of prescription drugs, fixing our roads, or properly funding our schools – I’m ready to get to work.”
Manoogian will also be serving as assistant Democratic whip for the 2019-2020 legislative session.
