LANSING — Last night, the Speaker of the House announced committee assignments for the 2019-20 legislative session. State Rep. Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon) was appointed to serve on the House Appropriations Committee, within which he will serve as the minority vice chair of the General Government subcommittee, as well as serve on both the Agriculture and Rural Development and Corrections subcommittees. Sabo was also appointed to the Select Committee on Reducing Car Insurance Rates.
“We all agree that Michigan drivers deserve significant auto-insurance rate reductions without sacrificing their world-class coverage, but we need to work together to find creative ways to provide that without compromising coverage quality,” said Sabo. “I think creating this select committee was a fantastic idea, and I am ready to do what I can to help find a bi-partisan solution that provides real relief.”
The General Government subcommittee is responsible for funding concerning revenue sharing — one of Sabo’s top priorities when he was elected.
“As for my role on the Appropriations Committee and General Government subcommittee, increasing state revenue sharing so local governments have the resources they need has long been a passion of mine, so I am eager to continue that work now.”
Sabo is serving his second term representing Michigan’s 92nd House District, which includes the cities of Muskegon, Muskegon Heights and North Muskegon along with the townships of Muskegon, Laketon, Fruitland and Whitehall. As a lifelong resident of Muskegon County, he has dedicated his time to developing a more safe and prosperous Muskegon.
