LANSING — Last night, the Speaker of the House announced committee assignments for the 2019-20 legislative session. State Rep. Padma Kuppa (D-Troy) was appointed to serve on both the House Energy and Local Government and Municipal Finance committees.

“I am honored to be able to represent the interests of my community on these important committees,” Kuppa said. “Having lived in Troy for over twenty years, I understand the issues that concern people in the District, and that includes ensuring Michiganders have access to affordable energy that doesn’t harm our environment, and that our local governments have the resources they need to thrive. I plan to fight for these policies in my committees and on the House floor.”

State Rep. Padma Kuppa is serving her first term representing Michigan’s 41st House District, which encompasses the cities of Troy and Clawson. She also currently serves as an assistant Democratic whip. Kuppa has worked as an engineer and project manager with a career that spans the automotive, financial, and IT industries. As a community advocate on the environment, and a former Troy Planning Commissioner, she looks forward to bringing her experience to these House committees.
