LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan cooperation to address the issues that matter most to Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Township) issued the following statement:
“The vision of Michigan laid out tonight was a reminder of why we elected Governor Whitmer in first place. After eight years of corporation-first policies, it was an honor to hear our governor speak to the issues that truly matter to Michiganders and propose tangible solutions. Our state’s strength is rooted in our people, and I’m deeply grateful to have a governor who understands that and will do whatever it takes to protect every Michigander’s freedom to access an excellent education, drink clean water, and build a great life for their family.”
Rep. Camilleri was joined by Jennifer McKernan, Communications Director for the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights, for the address.
