LANSING – State Rep. Rebekah Warren (D-Ann Arbor) has been re-appointed to the Michigan Council on Future Mobility. Rep. Warren, who is currently serving her third term in the House, helped to create the council and has served as a member since it was established in 2016.

“Having represented not only the American Center for Mobility, but also the Mcity Test Facility, University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute and Washtenaw Community College Advanced Transportation Center in the Michigan State Senate, I have seen firsthand the work that is being done to ensure that Michigan remains a leader in the automotive industry’s transition toward autonomous and connected vehicle technologies,” Rep. Warren said. “I am proud to have worked with my colleagues in both chambers of the Legislature and on both sides of the aisle to ensure that our state laws are both protecting the safety of our state’s residents and providing industry and researchers with the flexibility to innovate. I look forward to being a continued part of the Council on Future Mobility, which has helped to set the agenda on these issues in our state.”

While serving in the State Senate, Rep. Warren was a co-sponsor of Public Act 332 of 2016, which created the Michigan Council on Future Mobility, and the lead sponsor of Public Act 334 of 2016, which created the legal framework that allowed the establishment of the American Center for Mobility.

The Michigan Council on Future Mobility is a public-private partnership charged with providing the governor and Legislature recommendations regarding changes to state policy to ensure Michigan continues to be the world leader in automated, driverless, and connected vehicle technology.
