LANSING — Gov. Whitmer outlined her 2019-20 fiscal year budget proposal for a joint session of the House and Senate Appropriations committees. In response, state Rep. Leslie Love (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:
“Michigan’s skilled labor force was once hailed as the best in the world, and that was a result of our world-class education and skills training programs and our grit. Michiganders still have the grit and willingness to meet those same standards, but their opportunities for training were stifled by years of repeated underfunding. Underfunding wasn’t just limited to skills training; we have been neglecting our roads as well. I am eagerly looking down the road at the opportunity to work with Gov. Whitmer and my colleagues to solve long-standing problems and move the state forward, in terms of job readiness, school aid and Infrastructure and road improvements.”
