LANSING — Yesterday, Gov. Whitmer outlined her 2019-20 fiscal year budget proposal for a joint session of the House and Senate Appropriations committees. In response, state Rep. Isaac Robinson (D-Detroit), issued the following statement:
“Educational opportunities shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all. In order to ensure that every student has the resources they need to thrive, we need a budget that focuses on all potential paths for our students, not just a narrow few. The City of Detroit’s Office of Workforce Development is already leading the way with innovative programs and partnerships with schools like the A. Philip Randolph and Golightly Career and Technical Centers. The Governor’s bold ideas will help these programs grow and thrive. I’m grateful to see Gov. Whitmer prioritizing CTE programs and special education in her proposal, ensuring the solutions we provide for our state’s education crisis are comprehensive and that all Michiganders have the opportunity to pursue the career that works for them.”
