Following the meeting, state Rep. Robinson issued the following statement:
“No one should ever be afraid to go to their place of worship or walk down the street in our community. Now more than ever it is critical that we show love and support to the Muslim communities, here in Detroit, around the country and also across the world. I want my residents to know we are committed to ensuring all residents feel safe, welcome and at home in our community. I will be working closely with the city and other officials to ensure we are standing as a united front to protect our friends and neighbors against hate and terror. I am encouraged that when I reached out to the mayors of Detroit and Hamtramck and others for their help and input, everyone was immediately receptive. In Detroit and Hamtramck, we are family, and together we are united.”
