CLIO — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced this week that the city of Clio has been selected to receive a Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) Category B grant for the 2020 fiscal year. The grant comes in the amount of $100,000 and will be used for repairs to Smith Street, including resurfacing and select curb and gutter replacement.

“For far too long, our communities have had to put up with a crumbling infrastructure and lack of resources allocated for repairs,” said state Rep. Sheryl Kennedy (D-Davison). “This grant will go a long way toward providing the people of Clio the well-maintained, safe roads they deserve. I am thankful for MDOT’s support and this program’s dedication to ensuring all communities in Michigan are taken care of.”

The Category B program was created with the purpose of providing additional road funding for cities and villages with populations of 10,000 or less. This program is a stop-gap measure to help with inadequate road funding until a comprehensive funding solution is implemented.
