FLINT — In the early morning hours on July 7, Flint experience the latest in a long line of recent shootings, with one of the victims still in critical condition. Gun-related violence has increased significantly in Flint in recent months, resulting in state Rep. Sheldon Neeley (D-Flint) calling on the city of Flint to establish a Major Crimes Task Force. In addition, Rep. Neeley issued the following statement:
“One deficit we cannot recover from is the deficit of death. When our loved ones have their lives stolen from them, it is too late to act, and no amount of remorse, sorrow or grief will bring them back from the dead. We need to take the loss of lives more seriously and do whatever is in our power to prevent these tragedies. Creating a task force dedicated to finding the source of this tragic loss of lives and preventing it from damaging our community any further would be a vital first step.”
