LANSING — Recent studies by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have linked serious lung illnesses resulting in several deaths to chemical exposure associated with the use of e-cigarettes. The CDC is working with the FDA and other public health partners to identify any harmful chemicals in vaping products. In response, state Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) issued the following statement:
“As state and federal investigations continue, it is critical that the Michigan Legislature takes action to ban harmful chemicals, including Vitamin E acetate, being found in many e-cigarette products. Evidence is mounting that these chemicals are directly causing serious health issues and tragic deaths nationwide. I am committed to developing a legislative solution to this growing concern.”
