LANSING — The House of Representatives approved state budgets today for Fiscal Year 2019-20. In response to the passage of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) budget, state Rep. Sheryl Kennedy (D-Davison) issued the following statement:
“Although I voted in favor of the MDARD budget because of the good provisions it includes, I am troubled by the lack of support for Michigan’s vital Double Up Food Bucks program. This program boosts business for the local farms and markets in our community, all while providing healthy, nutritious food for our neighbors that need it most. I look forward to working with my colleagues on finding a way to make the necessary state investment in this program to maximize matched funding and expand it to all 83 counties.”
