LANSING — The House of Representatives approved state budgets today for Fiscal Year 2019-20. In response, state Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement:
“The budgets passed by the House today did not provide substantive relief from decades of disinvestment in Michigan. While some of the budgets include positive provisions, there are no excuses for the threats made to county sheriff offices that choose not to cooperate with ICE, restrictions placed on our proud union workers, or the lack of serious support for roads, higher education and our community colleges. Many of these budgets do nothing to move our state forward, and ultimately, do not reflect the priorities of families in Kent County, so I could not support them.”
