LANSING, Mich., Jan. 21, 2021 — State Rep. Abraham Aiyash (D-Hamtramck) was appointed to the House Committees on Communications and Technology; Families, Children and Seniors; and Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation today. Aiyash is serving his first term representing Michigan’s 4th House District, prior to which he was a community organizer focusing on racial, economic, and environmental justice.
“Serving on the committee for Natural Resources allows me to continue my advocacy for environmental justice and ensure there is a voice present to push for policies that will protect our Great Lakes, our planet, and our people,” said Rep. Aiyash. “COVID has presented many new challenges over the past year, exacerbating many existing flaws, like inequity in broadband access and a lack of services to our seniors. I am looking forward to getting to work in my committees to push for more mindful legislation.”
