ST. JOSEPH, Mich., Feb. 1, 2024 — This week, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced grant funding to 18 projects through its Strategic Site Readiness Program (SSRP). Among the awards was a $3.6 million grant to Benton Harbor and Tech Park, a project that will rehabilitate a current brownfield site. In response to the award, state Rep. Joey Andrews (D-St. Joseph) issued the following statement:
“This is great news for Benton Harbor and Southwest Michigan as a whole. Not only will this funding remediate a brownfield site, it will create new opportunities for businesses to locate or expand, bringing further investment and creating jobs in our community. I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing this project develop.”
Established in December 2021, SSRP provides financial incentives to eligible applicants to conduct eligible activities on, or related to, strategic and large-scale sites in Michigan to attract and promote investment in the state.
