LANSING, Mich., Sept. 16, 2022—Yesterday, State Rep. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) hosted an awards reception in the Michigan State Capitol to celebrate the Lansing Catholic High School boys track and field team for their MHSAA Division 3 state championship win. Family members, coaches and Capital Area elected officials, including state Sen. Curtis Hertel (D-Lansing), state Rep. Julie Brixie (D-Meridian Township), and state Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) joined the players for a presentation of honorary tributes, lunch and a visit to the House floor.

“I’m incredibly impressed with the work ethic, perseverance and teamwork of these student athletes,” Anthony said. “This much-deserved victory was made possible by the entire team’s tenacity and dedication, along with the support of their families, the Lansing Catholic coaching staff and the surrounding community.”

In June, the team secured the championship over rival Saugatuck High School by winning the 4×400 meter relay by a single point. The Lansing Catholic Track and Field team won its last state championship in 2012.
