LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues facing Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) issued the following statement:

“Gov. Whitmer presented an inspiring vision for Michigan and its future, and her commitment to put the people of Michigan first is evident. I have great hopes we can partner together to bring real solutions to the challenges that have been facing our state. I was also honored to have Mayor Schor, my predecessor, with me this evening. I have learned a lot from Mayor Schor over the years, and I am happy to work with him to find innovative ways to move greater Lansing forward.”

Rep. Anthony was joined by Andy Schor, Mayor of Lansing.

Sarah Anthony is serving her first term in the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 68th House District, which includes Lansing and Lansing Township. Rep. Anthony was elected in 2018, making her the first African American woman to represent Lansing at the state capitol. She serves on the Democratic leadership team as Minority Caucus Chair and is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. For additional information, visit Anthony.housedems.com.
