“The supplemental budget bills passed today in conjunction with the Budget Reduction Executive Order and Work Project Lapse Directive show that state government still has the power to come together to solve problems for the people in our state. While we still have a long way to go before the budget is made whole for the future, the proposals we passed today help close the budget shortfall for the current fiscal year while protecting the services the Lansing community needs most — education, support for municipalities and our first responders, health care and social assistance programs. Moving forward, I hope to see increased support for our higher education institutions to help Michiganders position themselves for new career opportunities as we work to recover from this economic downturn.”
