LANSING — State Representative Adam F. Zemke (D-Ann Arbor) was pleased to see his colleagues support House Resolution 269, which makes Dec. 9-15 Computer Science Education Week in the state of Michigan.

“The field of computer science is growing rapidly, and we should encourage Michigan students to be prepared for 21st century jobs,” Zemke said. “Businesses want to locate where there’s a strong talent pool, and getting more students into computer science will make our state more attractive to technology-based companies.”

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, about 1.4 million computing-related jobs will be available by the year 2020. Computer Science Education Week is celebrated across the country and is held in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Grace Murray Hopper.
