“Be Counted” Digital Town Hall Invite
Please plan to join me, along with special guests U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Attorney General Dana Nessel, Michigan 2020 Census Director Kerry Ebersole Singh, Washtenaw County 2020 Census Count Director Teresa Gillotti and National Chair of the Census Task Force for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Khyla Craine for the Ypsilanti 2020 “Be Counted” Digital Town Hall on Thursday, April 16, at 4 p.m. on the Michigan Census Facebook page.
The Ypsilanti 2020 Census “Be Counted” Digital Town Hall was initially planned as a public forum. The event has now become an online town hall to comply with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order. Each of the dignitaries participating in the town hall will appear on camera remotely to adhere to safe social distancing protocols.
The outbreak of the coronavirus reinforces the critical importance of completing the 2020 Census to support our public health and disease prevention programs. Federal tax dollars based on the census count support Medicaid, Medicare, SCHIP and health care centers around the state.
Get informed about what you need to know to make sure that all Michiganders are counted and to keep your tax dollars in the Mitten State. During this town hall, leaders of the census campaign will outline the efforts Michigan is launching to highlight the importance of completing the census, dispel myths and maximize participation. They will also answer your questions about the 2020 census!
You may submit your questions in advance of this Facebook event, or ask questions during the digital town hall.
