LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues facing Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Kyra Bolden (D-Southfield) issued the following statement:

“Two of my biggest priorities in running for office were providing much-needed relief to families struggling from the high cost of auto insurance and ensuring our public schools have the resources they need to prepare our students for success. As my guest, Mayor Siver, knows all too well — overcoming these challenges is vital to moving our communities forward. Gov. Whitmer’s address tonight reinforced my belief that by working together, we can find comprehensive solutions to these important issues.”

Rep. Bolden was joined by Southfield Mayor and former associate superintendent of Southfield Public Schools Kenson Siver for the address.
