LANSING, Mich., May 17, 2023 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed its fiscal 2023-24 budget recommendation last week. It includes the largest investment in education in Michigan’s history and substantial investments in workforce recruitment and retention, infrastructure, and public safety. It also allocates hundreds of millions toward local infrastructure repairs throughout the state.
The budget for the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, House Bill 4249, earmarked $2 million for a new water treatment facility in Saline. State Rep. Felicia Brabec (D-Ann Arbor) issued the follow statement regarding these funds:
“I am so glad I could vote in support of a successful House budget. With almost 9,000 people in Saline, these funds would continue to bring clean drinking water to the area and its people. With the community’s opportunity for a new water treatment plant, the residents of my district can be more confident with the quality and safety of their tap water. I will continue to support this funding throughout the budget process and will always advocate for my district.”
