BAY CITY, Mich., Nov. 30, 2022 — Yesterday, President Joe Biden visited SK Siltron, a mid-Michigan manufacturer of semiconductor wafers used in electric vehicle production, to highlight its $300 million expansion as a result of the CHIPS and Science Act, which he signed into law in August and increases funding for U.S. semiconductor production by $280 billion. The expansion was made possible with supporting funds from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. The facility is expected to quadruple its production in the coming years. State Rep. Felicia Brabec (D-Pittsfield Township) issued the following statement on the expansion and Biden’s visit:

“I applaud President Biden’s leadership in supporting domestic manufacturing. The CHIPS and Science Act, along with our support in the state Legislature, is helping us create good-paying jobs for hard-working Michiganders. With our investments at the state and federal levels, Michigan is starting a new chapter that builds upon its great legacy as a leader in auto manufacturing. I’m proud to support it.”
