LANSING, Mich., Jan. 17, 2023 — Speaker Joe Tate (D-Detroit) announced last week the chairs and members of the Michigan House of Representatives standing committees, subcommittees and appropriations subcommittees. State Rep. Kelly Breen (D-Novi) was appointed chair of the House Committee on Judiciary and will serve as a member of the Criminal Justice; Insurance and Financial Services; Local Government and Municipal Finance; and Ethics and Oversight committees.

“I’ve dedicated my life to advocating for policies that improve our collective quality of life,” Breen said. “The people of Michigan need legislators on both sides of the aisle to work together to pass legislation that makes our state a better place to live, work and thrive. I’m proud to serve as chair of the Judiciary Committee and as a member of several others to enact change where we need them most.”

Breen was a member of the House Judiciary and Insurance committees last term. She was also a member of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Task Force on Child Care and the House School Safety Task Force. The bipartisan task forces provided policy recommendations meant to improve the lives of Michigan families. Breen is in her second term as the representative of Michigan’s new 21st House District.
