Press Release
NOVI, Mich., July 3, 2025 — July 1 marked the deadline for the Legislature to pass a state budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year. House Republicans have repeatedly delayed the process and refused to engage in good-faith negotiations. After the deadline passed, state Rep. Kelly Breen (D-Novi) issued the following statement: “Passing a responsible budget on time is the Legislature’s highest obligation. Unfortunately, as the July 1 deadline passed, House Republicans failed to come to the table with a serious or workable path forward — and that puts essential investments for Michigan families at risk.
“This process is too important for partisan games. I remain committed to working toward a solution that reflects and addresses the needs of our kids, schools and communities and keeps Michigan moving forward.”
