LANSING, Mich., March 24, 2022 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 565 today, putting billions of dollars to work in communities across the state. State Rep. Kelly Breen (D-Novi) voted in support of the bill, highlighting the $2.2 billion in funding for water infrastructure. Breen issued the following statement:
“The underinvestment in Michigan’s water infrastructure is evident right here in our own community. This past year alone, the 38th District has experienced mass shut-offs, water main breaks and boil water advisories. When our aging infrastructure failed, families and businesses across Southeast Michigan bore the burden. We can’t allow that to happen again. I’m grateful for these funds, and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to build a future where our children won’t have to endure the consequences of our inaction.”
