LANSING, Mich., May 11, 2022 — The House of Representatives voted yesterday to send a proposed amendment to the Michigan Constitution to the November ballot. The amendment would require annual financial disclosure from legislators and state officers and change the number of years an individual can serve in the Legislature. After the vote, state Rep. Kelly Breen (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:

“It’s simple: We are sending a proposal for the people to vote on. I was a proud yes on yesterday’s resolution, which requires financial disclosures for certain elected officials and modifies term limits. Our state government must be transparent about where elected officials receive financial contributions from and how special interests may influence their votes. Michiganders deserve to know that their representatives are truly working on their behalf.”
