LANSING, Mich., July 11, 2022 — Organizers for the Reproductive Freedom for All petition delivered signatures to the Bureau of Elections today. The petition would amend the Michigan Constitution to ensure that no one goes to prison for providing safe medical care as well as ensure access to a broad range of reproductive health care, including abortion. State Rep. Julie Brixie (D-Meridian Township) issued the following statement on the delivery of the signatures:
“I applaud the hard work of volunteers and organizers who managed to collect a historic number of signatures. This petition would ensure that the decision to have an abortion would stay between doctors and patients instead of being put into the hands of partisan politicians. I fully support those who’ve fought to safeguard Michiganders’ freedom and bodily autonomy. The energy and passion of this movement are an inspiration in these challenging times.”
