BAY CITY – State Representative Charles Brunner (D-Bay City) has been appointed to two key House Committees for the 2011-2012 term: Agriculture and Energy and Technology.
“Both the agriculture and energy industries are extremely important when it comes to creating jobs and growing our economy here in Bay County,” Brunner said. “With agriculture being one of Michigan’s few economic bright spots, I’m going to work hard to make sure that our farmers and producers get the support and respect they deserve from Lansing so they can continue to grow and diversify. We need to invest in their success and keep them free of unnecessary regulations to help them expand their markets and keep creating jobs right here at home.”
Brunner was also appointed to a special bipartisan House Agriculture Subcommittee on Agricultural Processing. In addition to working on the Agriculture Committee, Brunner is eager to work on job creation and economic development as a member of the House Energy and Technology Committee.
“The Bay Region is already helping make Michigan a leader in renewable energy, with the cutting-edge solar technology of Hemlock Semiconductor and our new role in building components for Michigan’s wind farms,” Brunner said. “I’m going to work hard to make sure that our workers and businesses – including our farmers – play an even bigger role in providing the clean energy that companies need in order to locate and create jobs in Michigan. That includes building high-tech clean coal plants that will better protect our air and water.I look forward to working with the Governor and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find bipartisan solutions that support our workers and our businesses so we can create jobs and make Michigan better for everyone.”
