LANSING – State Representative Charles Brunner(D-Bay City) was sworn in to his first term in the Michigan House of Representatives today during a ceremony at the State Capitol marking the start of the 96th Legislature.
“We need to get people back to work in Bay County and across Michigan, and finding ways to do that is my top priority,” said Brunner, a retired educator and former Bay City Mayor.”I’m going to work with everyone in the community and at the Capitol – both Democrats and Republicans – to create and protect good-paying jobs for our residents. We don’t have time to waste, and we don’t have money to waste either. That’s why I’m committed to making sure Lansing spends every dime efficiently and effectively.I want to make sure we’re focusing our scarce resources on the right priorities – supporting businesses so they can create jobs, giving our kids a high-quality education and keeping our families safe.”
Brunner, a public high school teacher for 30 years, served as a Bay City Commissioner from 2001 to 2007. He was elected Bay City Mayor in 2007 and stepped down after being elected to the House in November. He and his wife, Judy, are lifelong residents of Bay County.
