Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Welcome to my first e-newsletter! It is an honor and privilege to serve as your representative in Lansing. I appreciate your interest in the work we’re doing for the 41st House District and want to keep you up-to-date with news from the Capitol.

The best way for me to serve as your advocate and fight for the things that matter most to you is for us to stay in contact. Please don’t hesitate to call me at (517) 373-1783, send an email to padmakuppa@house.mi.gov, or drop in at one of the in-district hours that I will be hosting throughout the community. We would also love for you to come up to Lansing to meet with me and my staff at the Anderson House Office Building, N-890.

Since the beginning of the year we’ve been busy; we attended the gubernatorial inauguration, set up the office,  and have begun learning our way around the Capitol and getting the information we need to best serve our community. We have begun session for the 100th Legislature — you can watch Opening Day of session here, and you can tune in to watch House session throughout the year, too. The team has been in training since there’s a lot to learn. I’ve also been assigned my House committees — Energy and Local Government and Municipal Finance — and look forward to bringing my experience and my interest in these areas to help our community and state.

In these letters, I will keep you updated on the bills I introduce so you can follow them through the legislative policymaking process. Recently, I introduced House Bill 4076, which establishes penalties for coercing vulnerable adults into sending sexually explicit material. It’s one of several bills that constituents suggested in recent years that I want to enact into policy.

Finally, thank you to all who attended my January in-district hours — I look forward to seeing you in the district in the coming months!
