Hello,
It’s hard to believe September is upon us already. I want to wish every teacher, every parent and every student in the district a very happy and safe school year. I’ve had some time in the community this summer during the legislative break, and it has been an absolute joy to see each of you. From the 1,800+ doors myself and staff went to during the summer, to the meetings, parades and events all over our district — I always enjoy hearing from the voices in our community.
As we prepare to go back to session, I eagerly look forward to serving our district in Lansing. I have introduced new legislation to create film and multimedia jobs here in Michigan. This new legislation is a total overhaul of the failed film incentives of yesteryear. Instead of an incentive, we are offering credits only to those who qualify through rigorous vetting and only after they show certified proof of the money they invested into the Michigan economy. The credit also stays in Michigan to make sure we aren’t sending taxpayer dollars out of state. Currently, Michigan is one of a handful of states that has no film program. I am pleased to be working with a team of bipartisan legislators from across Michigan to make this a program we can be proud of.
I also want to encourage folks in the 18th District to fill out this survey and let me know what legislative issues are on your mind. As your state representative, your priorities are top of mind — I really do see the results and your thoughts!
As always, I want to encourage you to please reach out to my office to make your voice heard. Please contact me at JasonHoskins@house.mi.gov or call (517) 373-1180. Democracy only works so long as the people are heard, and you have my promise — whether we agree or not — that my staff and I will always be here to listen to the voices of constituents.
Thank you,
Jason Hoskins
