Dear Neighbor,

I hope this newsletter finds you well as we begin the new year and navigate through the winter months in Michigan. February holds significant importance as we celebrate Black History Month, President’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and Groundhog Day. 

My district and constituency changed since the last time I emailed you. I went from House District 8 to House District 14, losing the Wayne County part of the district and gaining parts of Macomb County, specifically Center Line and part of Warren.  I look forward to earning the trust of my new constituents and working my hardest to serve you. My new district map is below to help orient ourselves to House District 14.

Black History Month

As we honor Black History Month, let us recognize the invaluable contributions of African Americans throughout our nation’s history. Our diversity is our strength, and this month provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, resilience, and cultural richness of the Black community. Community Events and Opportunities

I am hosting a community conversation with special guest state Sen. Stephanie Chang on Friday, Feb. 7, from 3-4 p.m. at Java Hutt Café 24362 John R Rd, Hazel Park, MI 48030. Come join me and special guest Sen. Chang to receive an update on what is going on in Lansing and to answer any questions and concerns the community may have. I hope to see you there!
