Dear Neighbor,
April has arrived, and along with it Michigan has finally entered springtime! This is a great time of year to utilize our local parks for outdoor activities, reconnect with our communities and begin planning for the warm weather ahead of us. Fans of the Detroit Tigers are gearing up for what is sure to be another fantastic season, with their first home game just this week. As life can often be very hectic and busy for many of us, I wanted to share a few important pieces of information with my constituents for the upcoming month which you may find helpful.

Tax Day is April 15, 2025
As a reminder, the final day for you to file your 2024 taxes is April 15, 2025! I want to again share the video prepared for residents of House District 18 by State of Michigan Treasurer Rachael Eubanks which outlines some important things to consider when it comes to filing your taxes this year. Department of Insurance and Financial Services Spoofing Toolkit
The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services recently prepared a toolkit that is designed to help educate consumers regarding spoofing. Spoofing is the deceptive practice where hackers impersonate a trusted person, organization or device. It involves disguising the hacker’s identity to mislead victims and gain their trust, allowing them to carry out fraudulent or malicious activities.
Helpful information on best practices to protect your and others’ identities against the harmful practice of spoofing can be found here. To learn more helpful information from DIFS, go to www.michigan.gov/difs.
City of Farmington Hills Fire Department Car Seat Inspection Event
The city of Farmington Hills Fire Department is hosting a car seat inspection event which is free to the public by appointment only. The event description, which can be found on the city of Farmington Hills Facebook page, is as follows:
“The city of Farmington Hills Fire Department is putting parents’ peace of mind in the driver’s seat at a car seat installation and inspection. The inspections are available for FREE to the public with an appointment. Inspections will be performed by nationally certified child car seat technicians from the City’s Fire Department.
Appointments are free to anyone who needs assistance, regardless of where they live. To register for a free child car seat inspection appointment, contact FDevents@FHgov.com by the Friday before the inspection event.
Technicians will check for proper installation and possible recalls of child car seats. Parents and caregivers will also be provided with education on how to properly install and use the child car seat. Inspections take approximately 45 minutes or less and are free to the public with no residency requirements.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 50% of all child car seats are installed or used incorrectly. Additionally, NHTSA estimates that properly installed car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers. It’s also important to know the proper stages to ensure each child is in the correct type of car seat or booster seat for their age, height and weight and that the seat is installed in the correct position.”
More information about this event can be found here. Information on how to properly install a car seat can be found here.
