Dear Neighbor,
Summer is coming to a close, and the back-to-school season is upon us. I hope that you all have had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful summer weather before we cool down a bit in the coming months! I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me recently to engage with my office. It means so much to hear about your priorities for our state. I really value your feedback; it keeps me accountable to you and helps me deliver on the kind of change that you care about. I hope that we can continue to have a dialogue about important issues as we get ready to return to our school year routines together.
I’m also glad to share information on events and updates with you in this latest edition of my newsletter. Also included in this issue are a few resources I hope you find helpful. Please do not hesitate to reach out to my office by phone at (517) 373-0823 or email at NataliePrice@house.mi.gov for questions about this or any other state-level issue. You can follow me on Facebook to get regular legislative updates as well. I look forward to hearing from you!

Community Conversation
Last month I was joined by the Michigan secretary of state for a community discussion on ID requirements and maintaining fair elections in our state. This was a great opportunity to hear about the concerns of the community and highlight the ways in which my colleagues and I are fighting back against the increasing attacks upon our democracy.
Next week, there will be two opportunities to connect with me for conversations in the district. My office will host a Community Conversation on Monday, Aug. 25, at the Royal Oak Public Library at 5:30 p.m., where I will be joined by my special guest, Royal Oak School Board Member Lauren Jasinski. This event will focus on education, the state budget and other local issues.
If you can’t join us in person, you can register to view the event virtually over Zoom. It is also recommended that guests, both in-person and online attendees, submit their questions in advance using this form. We look forward to meeting with you all and discussing the work our offices are doing to support you.
Can’t make it to the next in-person event? No problem. My office is putting together a schedule of upcoming Community Conversations for this fall. Please keep an eye out for future e-newsletters with more information.
Virtual Town Halls
Summer is full of opportunities to get outside and reconnect with the environment around us. In the spirit of connecting offline, my office has decided to temporarily pause the Virtual Town Halls for the summer. These virtual sessions will return beginning Sept. 12. In the meantime, I look forward to connecting with you all at various in-person events this season.
Legislative & District Updates
We Are Knocking on Your Doors
Over the summer we have knocked on thousands of doors in our district, having great conversations about our work in Lansing and talking about issues you care about. These conversations have focused on topics ranging from noise on Woodward to the
education budget to the housing crisis. If we haven’t talked to you yet, don’t worry: we will continue to knock on doors throughout the fall and you can reach us at our office by phone at (517) 373-0823 or email at NataliePrice@house.mi.gov.
The MI Vision Project
Recently we launched the MI Vision Project. This project is designed to give constituents like you an opportunity to set our state’s legislative agenda going forward. It is now more critical than ever that governments remain accountable to their electorate. To give your feedback, please visit our website or scan the QR code below.
Legislation
Recently, I have been proud to work for you on the following legislative actions:
- I have cosponsored HB 4796 introduced by state Rep. Laurie Pohutsky that would prevent the president from federalizing the National Guard in Michigan without our governor’s consent. We must be proactive to ensure that the law is followed and that the National Guard is not used improperly.
- I am also supporting HB 4760 from state Rep. Betsy Coffia that would ban masked law enforcement agents. Government transparency and accountability are imperative to keeping our communities safe.
Please note this is not a complete list of all the issues my office is working on. Stay tuned for updates as we continue working on critical legislation.
State Updates & Resources
State Land Bank Commits $400K to Boost Affordable Housing in Oakland County
Affordable housing developments are already underway in Oakland County where the State Land Bank has allocated $400k in funding. A 200+ unit market rate development is planned in Commerce Township on a former gravel pit. Investments like these will go a long way to easing the cost of living crisis and ensuring that our children will be able to afford to live in the communities they grew up in.
Tuition-free Postsecondary Education for Adult Learners
Keep your eye out for MiLEAP — they are attending community events across the state raising awareness for adults 25 and up about opportunities to get free degrees and certifications through the Michigan Reconnect program. For more information on Michigan Reconnect, please visit: michigan.gov/reconnect.
EGLE Launches New Wildfire Smoke Webpage
Over the past month, wildfire smoke has blanketed our communities, forcing us indoors. EGLE has introduced a new webpage providing vital air quality updates and mitigation strategies. This resource helps us adapt to the evolving realities of climate change, but we must not settle for being passive observers of the environmental damage unfolding around us. I’m committed to addressing Michigan’s environmental challenges and will keep fighting for a sustainable future for everyone.
