In District Update
Welcome to the 103rd Legislature! It is an honor to continue serving Eaton County as your state Representative. Please contact my office for any questions you may have regarding legislation or for any issues you may need help navigating in state government.
Meet My Team!
Yvonne is a lifelong Delta Township resident and dear friend of mine. She has served as my scheduler during my last term and is now overseeing constituent services.
Joci is returning as my Legislative Director. She previously served as my District Director at the beginning of the last term and has served in the policy role since October 2023.
Tabitha is returning as our legislative intern this year. She was born and raised in the district and is a current student at Michigan State University in the James Madison College.
December Teacher of the Month: Doug Pennington
Congratulations to our December Teacher of the Month winner, Doug Pennington! Doug is a 9-12th grade teacher at Olivet Community Schools teaching Agriscience, Botany, Veterinary Science and Agriculture Leadership.
To quote his nominator, “In addition to teaching, Doug is the FFA advisor — he coaches kids in dealership and public speaking contests and spring skills contests. This fall he coached the Ag Skills contest that competed last month at the national competition. Doug works year-round, supervising the many FFA students that show at the Eaton County Fair and serves as dairy beef superintendent at the fair.” His nominator also stated that “Doug is a great teacher focusing on student success.”
Congratulations Doug on this well-deserved award for your hard work! Thank you for all that you do to support our students and the agriculture industry in Eaton County.

Legislative Update
2024 Year in Review
Last year, I worked hard to bring back more than $70 million to our county and to pass policies to help our community, including repealing the pension tax and increasing the Working Family Tax Credit. Thank you, Eaton County! It’s been an honor serving as your state representative, and I am looking forward to a great fourth term.
Opening Day for the 103rd Legislature
Last week was the opening day for the 103rd Legislature in the Michigan House of Representatives. My daughter and son joined me for the official opening and celebration. I am honored to start my fourth term in the House and look forward to continuing to serve the best district in Michigan.
Serving on the Select Committee on Protecting Michigan Employees and Small Businesses
I am honored to be named to the 15-member special Select Committee on Protecting Michigan Employees and Small Businesses. As a long-time advocate for Michigan’s small businesses and employees, I am committed to finding balanced solutions that support both our hardworking employees and the small business owners who support our state economy.
I would like to extend my gratitude to House leadership for recognizing my common-sense approach to tackling tough issues and entrusting me with this important responsibility. Together, we are working diligently to address the issues arising from the recent Michigan Supreme Court decision on the tipped wage credit and sick time policies, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes for all Michiganders.
